ECSil™ polymers are a super soft polyurethane, clinically proven to be the best in class polyurethane for use in long-term implantables, when a very high level of mechanical performance is required.

The leading biostability and non-thrombogenic properties of ECSil™ polymers offers competitive advantages against devices using inferior polyurethanes. These properties reduce the need for future interventions, improving patient outcomes.

Potential Uses

ECSil™ polycarbonate silicone is a family of next generation biomedical polymers. ECSil™ retains the class leading biological stability of Elast-Eon™ while exhibiting superior physical properties across the grade range. ECSil™ is available in a range of mechanical properties, but extends the softer materials to 70 Shore A while still delivering properties many times better than equivalent silicone rubbers. ECSil™ is generally used in applications where the device requires a very high level of mechanical performance. ECSil™ can be used in applications such as:

  • Blood Glucose Monitoring
  • Finger Joint
  • General Orthopedic
  • Spinal Discs
Low Angle Shot in the Operating Room, Assistant Hands out Instruments to Surgeons During Operation. Surgeons Perform Operation. Professional Medical Doctors Performing Surgery.

Processibility

ECSil™ is available in a range of mechanical properties, but extends the softer materials to 70 Shore A. It is readily processed using standard equipment and techniques including:

  • Extrusion
  • Dip coating
  • Injection moulding
  • Spraying
  • Electrospinning
  • Compression moulding
  • Dip casting
  • Reaction injection moulding (RIM)
  • Vacuum forming
